Leather Sleeves & Pinks

Finally, the first post of 2014 is here! Hope you all had a fab Christmas and New Year and are ready for new (fashion) adventures this year. I'm wearing one of my current favourite winter coats with leather look sleeves from Primark—perfect for the mild-ish weather we're having right now. The knee-high leather boots are a purchase from Bulgaria and I can definitely see them taking me right through to Spring. The furry-looking vest is great to throw on with pretty much anything for that extra bit of snugness. Hopefully more regular posts to follow from now on!

Leather & Plaid

A casual autumnul outfit before London really decides to get its chill on. The boots are a new obsession of mine from Office—I think that biker styles make a nice change to ordinary knee-high ones, and I can definitely see myself spending the next few wintry months in them. Leather is still order of the day as far as textures for the colder months go, and I love these faux leather shorts I bought in Bulgaria last year. The shirt and hat (another item I don't envisage taking off in the near future) are both from Primark.

Leather on Denim

I never though denim on (faux) leather would be an interesting combination until I saw some inspiring blogs and decided to go for it myself. A bit chillier today, hence the pained expression on some of these photos. This is one of my favourite shirts ever (from Tommy Hilfiger) and I hope to get some more in other colours, because they really are very versatile and easy to throw on when you can't be bothered. I also love the stud detailing. You'll also see my new bag from Primark which I think is very classic and also has plenty of room to hold all my stuff. The skirt is from Oasis, boots from H&M and coat from Jane Norman. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Leather loves #2

I seem to have acquired an oddly large amount of faux-leather garments over the holidays, and I am really quite into this texture right now. Specimen number 1 - the (faux) leather trousers. Although thoughts may inevitably turn to Ross's leather trousers episode, I really like how these little gems can brighten up a day outfit and make it look sleek and funky. Also, being black, they can be worn with almost any top and look even better if paired with heels.

Leather loves

I used to hate the idea of any leather items, bar boots and maybe a nice handbag. That is, until leather became really fashionable to wear and became transposed into all sorts of items; not just your generic leather jacket anymore, but also leather tops, dresses and skirts. So here is my recent purchase from Oasis, a faux-leather skirt that caught my eye due to the softness of the material and the pure versatility of the item (and at £40, quite cheap for such a skirt) I also think the different texture really adds another dimension to an otherwise boring outfit, and is a great way to wear something edgy and different in this winter climate where dressing daringly is becomingly increasingly more difficult:

What affirmed my belief that leather is back for good in clothing, and actually looks amazing too rather than being simply a fashion fad, is this amazing shot I saw on the Copenhagen Street Style blog (http://copenhagenstreetstyle.dk/):

Marcella is wearing a gorgeous dress from...would you believe it...H&M. My favourite brand at the moment strikes again. Looking at her you would think that she is wearing a fully designer ensemble but the fact that H&M can produce such amazing leather (or faux-leather) pieces means that you can work this look and still look a million dollars. I love the simplicity of this outfit, which is so striking at the same times, and I particularly like the head-to-toe camel tones that she is working. In other leather news, I saw these shorts in River Island the other week and was immediately drawn to them due to their cute flower cut-out detailing:

On closer inspection though, they turned out to be made of a really flimsy leather-like material which, for the winter, really won't get you anywhere. Perfect summer shorts though and they really give the leather look a feminine twist.
